The investigation started about a year ago. Police received numerous reports of wallets and pocketbooks being taken from shoppers at local retail establishments. The stolen credit cards were then used to purchase clothing and electronic devices online.
The arrest occurred Sunday, Feb. 3 after Greenburgh Detectives maintained surveillance of the subject, 56-year-old Jennifer Logan of Brooklyn. Detectives observed her stealing a wallet and then using a credit card from the wallet to make a purchase at Shop Rite in Scarsdale.
Logan was arrested as she was exiting the grocery store. She faces the following charges, all Class E felonies:
- Fourth-degree grand larceny
- Second-degree identity theft
- Fourth-degree criminal possession of stolen property
Logan was arraigned in the Greenburgh Town Court before being remanded to the Westchester County Jail without bail due to her 11 previous felony convictions.
Investigations are still ongoing, and Greenburgh Detectives expect to file additional charges.
